Airbus Flies Its Three Star Products Into ILA

Toulouse, 27 May 2008

Airbus arrived at the 2008 edition of the ILA Berlin air show with one member of each of its three highly successful aircraft families, an A320, an A330-200 and the all-new double-decker A380.

Airbus is highlighting its commitment to eco-efficiency with the display of the A320 featuring the Airbus/DLR/Michelin-fuel-cell-system, which was successfully tested in flight in February this year - a civil aviation's "first".

This year is also the year of India, which is partner country at ILA 2008. Airbus is marking this occasion with the delivery of an A330-200 to international Indian carrier Jet Airways. The aircraft is part of an order for 15 A330s placed by the airline between 2005 and 2007. Airbus has received more than 500 orders in total for this aircraft.

The A330-200 and the A320 will both be on static display throughout the show.

Airbus’ flagship, the A380, piloted by Jacques Rosay and Eckhard Hausser, will take part in the daily flight displays each afternoon. Airbus has received 196 orders and commitments from 17 customers for the A380 and has delivered four of these aircraft to Singapore Airlines. Emirates and Qantas are to receive their first aircraft each this summer.

Watch out for the live broadcast of the A380 flight displays on this site.

Visitors will be able to find out more about the entire Airbus product line on the section of the EADS stand (hall 8, No A18) dedicated to Airbus. The A320 Family, the A330-200, the A350 and the A380 are displayed as 1/20th scale models, while a specific video on fuel cells explains Airbus’ achievements in this domain. Airbus’ objectives are to reduce CO2 emissions and noise by 50 per cent and Nox by 80 per cent for all new aircraft launched starting in 2020.
