IIWE - International Institute of Women in Engineering

July 1st to July 22nd, 2005 in Sceaux (France)

In order to act on its diversity policy, EADS promotes the woman's place in engineering positions and tries to diversify women’s jobs within the Group. Their aim is to improve the attractiveness of scientific and technological courses to young girls and to encourage them to choose a career in this area.

This is the reason why EADS is working together with an event organised by one of its partners: the EPF (Ecole d’Ingénieurs).

As a matter of fact, the EPF has been organising the “International Institute of Women in Engineering” (IIWE) every year since 2001. This summer seminar for engineering students promotes the woman's place in engineering positions. The seminar, which is held in English, is open for men and women alike and reunites around 75 students, who are at the end of their engineering studies, coming from over 30 different countries.

By taking part in these activities, the participants discover the basics of an engineering career as well as the many different ways that it is possible to work in engineering all over the world, in different countries and cultures. However, these young engineers are also made aware of ethnical and social issues involved in this career path. In particular, emphasis is put on women in managerial positions, on the way in which female engineers are managed and on the management of work-life balance.

EADS participates in this event by associating women from within the Group whose career paths present clear examples.

More precisely, EADS will provide the following opportunities to the students of this seminar:

  • site visits in some of its Parisian establishments: EADS SPACE Transportation in Les Mureaux et Eurocopter in La Courneuve
  • and the chance to meet female employees within the Group (through workshops and testimonies)
