In Service Support
In the UK, EADS has become increasingly involved in the design and management of complex long term service agreements. This includes the cost effective delivery of Contractor Logistics Support at main operating bases as well as the support of world wide operations.
Lead Systems Integration
EADS Defence & Security in Newport, South Wales and EADS Astrium in Portsmouth and Stevenage, design, model, implement and manage secure solutions that integrate new and legacy systems. These are designed to be easily supported and upgradeable, to facilitate incremental and spiral development to meet changing operational requirements. EADS UK solutions are tailored to customers’ specific needs and link a wide range of individual platforms and subsystems into a network enabled ‘system of systems’.
Homeland Security
EADS Defence & Security provides fully-integrated solutions and services in order to minimise risk exposure in the areas of surveillance, crisis management, infrastructure security, emergency response and international disaster and relief operations.
EADS DS offers end-to-end solutions and services tailored to ever more demanding operational needs. Maximum efficiency is delivered by enabling optimal use of data and information throughout and across the relevant security organisations.
Innovation Works
EADS recently launched its high technology EADS Innovation Works UK programme to develop the Group’s technological innovation capability through closer links with the UK Government, leading universities and others interested in growing the UK’s technology base. The programme will be focused initially on three locations where there are already close business ties with EADS, namely Bristol (Airbus,), Newport (Defence & Security) and Portsmouth (Astrium).
Innovation Works UK will initially concentrate on EADS UK’s key strengths in technology for advanced secure communications, simulation of complex systems, software engineering and advanced wing design and manufacture. Within three years EADS hopes to have built a cadre of 120-150 engineers and scientists within EADS Innovation Works UK, who will spearhead the company’s advanced technology efforts within the UK.
Assured Communications
The growing demand for Network Enabled Capability and information sharing across government requires end-to-end communication networks which are reliable, interoperable and secure, backed-up with contingency capability. EADS DS and EADS Astrium provide world class Information Assurance and satellite communications which together deliver Assured Communications.
Service Provider
At contract signature in 2003, Skynet 5 was the UK’s highest value defence PFI. EADS Astrium has shown its ability to manage the complex provision of a secure satellite communications system and associated services. With the financial strength of EADS and the project management skills in the UK, the company is well placed to deliver further major services such as FSTA.
