ATR 42–300 missing

Toulouse, 22  February  2008

The ATR42-300 manufacturing serial number 028 (YV-1449) operated by Santa Barbara Airlines is reported missing and researches are ongoing in a mountainous region northeast of Merida.

The aircraft left Merida at 10:29 am CET (04:59 pm local time) to Caracas (Venezuela) on Thursday February 21st, 2008 with 3 crewmembers and 43 passengers on board.

The French Bureau of Investigation and ATR team of specialists are immediately leaving to Venezuela to assist the Venezuelan Investigation Authorities.

The Venezuelan Authorities leading the investigations will be the official source of information.
