Bangkok Airways takes delivery of its seventh ATR 72-500 aircraft

Toulouse, 15  December  2003

The Thai airline Bangkok Airways took delivery of its seventh ATR 72-500 aircraft ordered in 2002, on December 12th 2003.

This new aircraft has been christened « Phuket » which is the name of the largest island in Thailand among the major tourist destinations in South East Asia. It will be put into service on the airline’s domestic network as well as on new international routes to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.

Bangkok Airways started its ATR operations in 1994 and currently operates a total ATR fleet of 9 ATR 72s on a network to thirteen destinations in five countries.

In the Asian Pacific area, 88 ATRs are currently operated by 19 operators.

ATR is an equal partnership between EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) and Finmeccanica/Alenia Aeronautica and is the world leader in the 50 to 70 seat turboprop market.
