EuroLOT acquires 5 ATR 42-500Farnborough, 22 July 2002 The Polish flag carrier LOT Polish Airlines and ATR today announced the signature of a contract for 5 ATR 42-500 (1 new and 4 second-hand aircraft). They will be operated by LOT’s regional subsidiary EuroLOT. Deliveries are scheduled to take place this summer. « We look forward to introducing those new generation ATR 42-500 into our fleet, underlined Marek Sidor, EuroLOT President and CEO. The aircraft will allow EuroLOT to offer improved services to our passengers while still retaining the benefits of the unmatched economics of operations of ATR aircraft.» « This contract is the proof of the efficiency of our aircraft, said Jean-Michel Léonard, ATR CEO. I‘m very pleased with this mark of confidence and I’m sure these new generation ATR 42-500 will procure even more satisfaction ». EuroLOT, a 100% LOT subsidiary focused on regional routes, currently operates 8 ATR 72-200 and 5 ATR 42-300. The latter will be replaced by the 5 new generation ATR 42-500. EuroLOT ATR fleet currently operates 520 flights per week to 18 destinations on domestic and short international routes. Since the beginning of the programme, ATR has sold 662 ATR (369 ATR 42 and 293 ATR 72) to 103 operators around the world. Toulouse, France-based ATR, N°1 in turboprops in the 40 to 70 seat market segment, is a European joint venture between Finmeccanica/Alenia Aeronautica and EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company).
