The AS 355 N Ecureuil : A Light Twin with Amazing Capabilities, and the Lowest Operational and Acquisition Costs in its Class

The AS 355 N, which has a maximum take-off weight of 2600 kg, is the latest civil twin-engine helicopter version from the Ecureuil/Fennec family. More than 700 helicopters have already been sold from this Ecureuil/Fennec family, some 140 of them AS 355 N.
Besides its high-performance level and its true multifunctional features, the AS 355 N has the lowest operational and acquisition costs in its class.
The AS 355 N has been attracting a great deal of attention thanks to its two powerful Turbomeca Arrius 1 A turbine engines, its low vibration levels, and its roomy, obstacle-free cabin that makes it possible to integrate mission equipment while maintaining excellent visibility.
The two Turbomeca Arrius 1A turbine engines that power the AS 355 N generate 520 shp (388 kW), thus providing obtain excellent single-engine performances.
The engines have Full Authority Digital Engine Control, which offers many advantages: high operational flexibility to perform engine failure simulations and automatic starting, while also offering optimized performance levels.
The AS 355 N can be equipped with many different optional configurations, which makes it highly appreciated by the parapublic sector, and especially by police forces.
It has thus been configured by numerous police forces in Great Britain with equipment such as FLIR and nose-mounted TV cameras, searchlights, loudspeakers, monitoring systems, plus real-time ground data and image transmissions - encoded for certain customers.
Among the features currently being offered are the new FLIR models and a hoist with a capacity of 204 kg (500 lbs.).
Its single-engine flight performances mean it can land on building tops in complete safety. And it can also perform high-voltage power line repairs for Electricité de France. Technicians are lowered in a pod from a hovering helicopter, and they can work on live power lines.
For offshore shuttle flights or take-offs from small-sized platforms, the AS 355 N offers remarkable CAT A performances.
The helicopters of the Ecureuil/Fennec family that have been delivered have already logged over 2,500,000 flight hours for 320 customers in 54 countries.
