ATR placed 29 second hand aircraft in the first semester 2002

Farnborough, 22 July 2002

Avions de Transport Régional (ATR) today announced having placed 29 second hand aircraft to 15 airlines during the first semester 2002. During the same period, ATR delivered 15 second hand aircraft.

In comparison, ATR sold a total of 23 second hand aircraft last year.

According to Paolo Revelli-Beaumont, SVP commercial, “these contracts confirm the attractiveness and the reliability of the ATR on the second hand aircraft market. The asset management activity is an ideal complement to the new aircraft business, giving the airlines the possibility to start their operation with a cheaper solution and then grow with the addition of new machines.”

Among the 15 airlines, 8 are new ATR customers : Air Kiribati (Pacific), Aero Malaysiana (Malaysia), Intermediacion (Spain), Islas Airways (Spain), Solenta (South Africa), Aer Arann (Ireland), Air Minas (Brazil) and Air Wales (UK).

Toulouse, France-based ATR, N°1 in turboprops in the 40 to 70 seat market segment, is a European joint venture between Finmeccanica/Alenia Aeronautica and EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company).
