Eurocopter is biggest Helicopter Exhibitor at ILA 2002Berlin, 06 May 2002 Eurocopter, the Franco-German helicopter manufacturer, underlines its status as the world's No. 1 helicopter company at this year's ILA. A chalet (No. 56-61) sized 540 square metres is available to host customers, invited guests and accredited media. Main attraction for the ILA visitors and the general public will be the numerous helicopters from Eurocopter's comprehensive product line, as follows - In the Flying Display:The single-engine light helicopter EC 120 Colibri; the single-engine light helicopter EC 130 B4, never before displayed in Germany; the twin-engine light helicopter EC 135, an aircraft which will be delivered to a Japanese customer immediately at the end of the show; the twin-engine, fourmetric-tonne helicopter EC 145, demonstrated for the first time ever at an airshow in flight; the Franco-German Tiger combat helicopter; and the five-nation, transport and naval helicopter NH9O (Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal) of the NH Industries industrial consortium in which Eurocopter holds a share of more than 60 per cent. In the Static Display:The single-engine helicopters EC 120 Colibri and AS 350 B3 Ecureuil; the twin-engine EC 135 and EC 155 B, both of them on display by courtesy of the Federal German Border Guard, the world's biggest operator of these two Eurocopter models; further EC 145; the EC 635, which is the military version of the successful EC 135 and already sold to Portugal; a Tiger combat helicopter plus another NH9O. In 2001, Eurocopter booked orders for 375 new helicopters and delivered 335 aircraft in the same year, which represents a share of 43 per cent of the world market. With this, the Franco-German company is No. 1 in the market. Turnover increased by 10 percent to 2.2 billion Euro as compared to the year 2000. Eurocopter currently employs approx. 9,800 staff. Eurocopter is a wholly-owned subsidiary of European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS). With revenues amounting to 30.8 billion Euro and a workforce of 100,000, EADS is the largest European aerospace company and No. 2 worldwide.
