Bid for an exceptional Trinidad GT and help AOPA’s Air Safety Foundation

Lakeland, FL, 10 April 2002

A specially painted and equipped “Spirit of Liberty” Trinidad GT is being offered for auction with proceeds going to AOPA’s Air Safety Foundation. Aviation enthusiasts are invited to bid on the ASF website for this unique Trinidad GT painted by Oxford Aviation, from Oxford, Maine.

"The Air Safety Foundation has made extensive contributions to increasing general aviation safety since its creation in 1950 and continues to set the standard for General Aviation worldwide. We chose the Trinidad GT to assist ASF in its mission because of its impeccable safety record and expect that the auction will raise awareness of the ASF’s programs as well as financially aid their mission." said Stéphane Bernard, Socata Aircraft Inc. President and CEO.

The on-line auction (www.asf.org/auction.html) is free and will open on the ASF website May 1 and closes on August 31. The winning bidder will be announced and aircraft presented during AOPA Expo, Oct. 24 – 26 in Palm Springs, California. All funds collected over the minimum reserve will be donated to the Air Safety Foundation.

This special Trinidad GT features state-of-the-art avionics, including a complete Honeywell Bendix/King avionics suite with KAP 150 autopilot, IHAS 5000 consisting of a KLN 94 Color GPS, KTA 870 Traffic Avoidance System, and a KGP 560 Ground Proximity Warning System, as well as a KMD 550 multifunction display that have been donated by Honeywell Bendix/King. It also includes a WX-500 Stormscope donated by Goodrich Avionics. The installation of the avionics has been donated by Banyan Aircraft Services, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And, the impressive design and paint-scheme of the aircraft were donated by Oxford Aviation in Maine.

The AOPA Air Safety Foundation is the nation's largest non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to providing aviation education and safety programs for general aviation.
