EADS, Defence & Security Networks inaugurates its new industrial site of DouarnenezDouarnenez, 26 January 2001 Under the chairmanship of Mr. Pierre Maille, Chairman of the regional council of Finistère, and in the presence of Mr. Jacques Payer, Chief Executive Officer, EADS Defence & Security Networks (EDSN) today inaugurates its new industrial site of Douarnenez. (Finistère - France) EADS Defence & Security Networks, created in June through the integration of the Security and Defence activities of Matra Nortel Communications, is a global supplier of telecommunication network solutions for the Security and Defence markets, based on civil technologies.
EDSN's industrial site of Douarnenez is certified ISO 9002 and ISO 14001; it employs 300 people, including 40 engineers and 100 technicians, and has an overall building area of 7,000 m2 including 500 m2, recently created. This site, under the management of Michel Laurent, is the integration and preparation center for digital radio terminals, radio infrastructures, network switches, and voice and data over IP telephony solutions, of small, medium, and large capacity. The Customer Center, which is an integral part of this site, is dedicated to the integration, validation of systems and to customer acceptance testing, preparation for network deployment and sales administration. As a genuine center of international expertise in telecommunication systems dedicated to the Security and Defence forces, EDSN's site of Douarnenez offers its added-value generating know-how, to all its customers' worldwide. EADS Defence & Security Networks (EDSN) is a global supplier of telecommunication network solutions for the Security and Defence markets, based on civil technologies. In this field, EDSN is the world Excellence center of its two powerful shareholders: EADS and Nortel Networks. EDSN is world's number one for secured digital radio networks, through expertise gained since 1987 by Matra Nortel Communications, from which company it evolved, and has 47 networks to the Tetrapol standard, both being deployed and operating, in 24 countries, including 13 in Europe, which, in time, will represent almost 750,000 users and a coverage of 4 million km2.
