To date, the twin-turboprop Breguet 1150 Atlantic 1 has been used by the German Navy for naval reconnaissance as well as antisubmarine and antiship operations. It was also used for search and rescue (SAR) missions. Since the spring of 2006, it is gradually being replaced by the P-3 Orion CUP successor system. Overhaul and maintenance work was carried out at the Dornier aircraft service centre Dornier Flugzeugwerft (DFW) in Manching, where logistic product support for the Breguet 1150 Atlantic was also provided. Twelve of these aircraft are to be decommissioned. DFW will continue to carry out regular interim inspections until the last replacement unit enters service in 2008. Two SIGINT versions of the Breguet 1150 Atlantic will remain in service until 2010.
