Logistics Information Systems

For forces engagement, Logistics today plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the success of military operations. Logistics is the system which provides the impetus required by forces. The challenge today is to give adequate impetus at the right speed at the right time and at the right location. This is what we call "Focused Logistics".

The main Logistics functions can be split up into 3 domains:

  • management of flows and logistic platforms (container parks, trans-docking, track & trace)
  • technical support & maintenance, which includes management of the entire chain from the purchase of spare parts to their operational use within units (maintenance of equipment, operations). This domain includes several functions such as purchasing, forecast, supply, maintenance, and stock availability.
  • planning/forecast/optimisation, which deals with the systems managing transport planning, with force planning, e.g. calculation of the logistic part of a force and with forecast of needs.
